One thing that has become a interesting topic of conversation isn't what fans are flocking to the theatres to see is, as much as what fans are watching in the "streaming wars" the pandemic brought to us or if people are just waiting for the movies to be released at home vs going to the theatre. This trend has brought forth shows that have everyone very excited and opportunity to watch blockbuster films at home perhaps sooner than what would have been available before. So what are people watching and searching for? What is the buzz in the entertainment world? We don't have to wonder anymore.
A new website is tracking both Streaming Numbers and internet mentions and searches to give us numbers on popular each property is currently. It shouldn't be a surprise to see Obi-Wan taking the top spot for June as we are expecting Stanger Things to be at #1 most of July. What was surprising is to see three Disney Plus shows in the top five and only one Netflix show in the top 10. The Boy's third season from Amazon is tracking nicely reaching the #3 spot.
The Database does our same thing with movie titles however the streaming capabilities of some countries vary and the search tags movies are getting that are only in theatres can carry certain titles into the top ten here. So in the Horrific DB we see Jurassic World barely able to break into the top 10 while Batman and Northman still sitting very high which changes in the actual box office.
For our Box Office this month we see Maverick holding on to the #1 spot as JW couldn't quite get that top spot. Also, Lighyear's subpar spot Pixar wise surprising until I saw the movie and it wasn't the best thing buy any means. In fact it was pretty boring.
