The Body Has Some Pleasant Story Curves From Hulu

So I just became aware that HULU is doing a series of film's called "Into The Dark" (I know I know shame on me) with one a month coming out from last October to this one. They are calling this season one so I am not sure if they will continue to produce films under this banner moving forward, but I figured this would be a fun watch and then to rank all twelve upon the completion.

I went back and started at the beginning with last October's installment "The Body". Staring Tom Bateman, the body deals with a hitman that has already killed his latest target when we get into the film and bulk of the movie is him having four hours to drop the corpse off in order to get paid.

The catch is these events take place on Halloween night and right away our hitman comes across the supporting cast of comedic relief players that are heading to a house party, and being as their costumes aren't any good and the hitman's is so good (the actual dead body) they want him to come to the party with them promising hm a ride to wherever he want's after and the hitman goes with them sense his tires have been slashed as part of a Halloween prank.

It's here that we meet Maggie (Rebecca Rittenhouse) who is instantly attracted to Wilkes (the hitman) and we can see where this story arch is headed. I was surprised that Ray Santiago is the party host and Maggie's boss, which makes this movie worth watching as I haven't seen something Ray isn't at the least entertaining in. The group of goofs end up with the body after trapping Wilkes in a escape room and the rest of the film is really a game of cat and mouse between the three idiots and Wilkes with Maggie in tow.

While a lot of the plot is pretty predictable if you are a horror fan, the performances don't make you mad that you will most likely that things figured out. On top of the good cinematography and the funny dialogue that will draw you back in if a scene seems to drag a little, the film takes place on Halloween which is always a win for me!

Into The Dark Ranking:
