The trailer of Netflix's newest thriller The Perfection had raised several questions and I'll be honest the first half does the same. Is this a film that deals with some kind of flesh eating virus as in the trailer we see a musician having to cut her hand off. Is it a crime of passion, or a revenge flick?
Well without giving any spoilers away as this film just came out less than 24 hours ago, I will say that there are several aspects of the above in this film, but man oh man there are some really REALLY dark turns that happen as the second half unfolds.
The cast is is really well put together with Allison Williams and Logan Browning both delivering solid performances, and (keeping it spoiler free) Steven Webber delivers a nice performance to support the actresses.
There isn't anything that just stands out as a outstanding earth shattering film cinematically as far as production or editing, but the performances are good enough that you're not going to notice that anyway. Where I felt this film was a pretty solid winner was the story itself. It is a very dark tale that kept me on it's toes and if a horror film of any sub-genre can do that, I'm happy that I got to check it out.
Final Score 8/10
