WitchBoard Remake Aims Spring Production Start

New Orleans' French Quarter is set to be the backdrop for the upcoming supernatural horror film, Witchboard. This film is a modern retelling of the 1986 Kevin Tenney classic with the same name.

The film follows Emily, her fiancé Christian, and a group of friends who open an organic café in an old carriage house. However, things take a dark turn when Emily discovers an ancient pendulum board that was once used to summon spirits. As a result, Emily becomes the target of evil forces, putting her very soul at risk.

Christian seeks help from occult expert Alexander Babtiste, who has secrets of his own, including knowledge of the fateful bloodlines that bind them all to the Witchboard. The group must navigate a modern coven of White Witches, a masked ball at Babtiste's mansion, and the legacy of Naga Soth, the Queen of Witches, all while trying to save Emily's soul.

Witchboard has reportedly been in development for several years, with director Chuck Russell previously discussing the film as a springboard to take the story into a deeper supernatural fantasy. Russell, known for his work on Bless the Child, The Blob, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, is set to direct the film.

Filming is scheduled to begin in May of 2023 in Montreal and New Orleans, and the film is highly anticipated by horror fans worldwide. With an intriguing storyline, an experienced director, and a talented cast, Witchboard is sure to be a must-watch film of 2023.
